Man kills wife in shelter

This guy broke into a domestic violence shelter and shot his wife to death. Here's the link to the entire story. The shelter was a moble home, so it wasn't hard for him to get in. It's hard for me to believe that we can spend billions to "protect" the citizens of Iraq, but the best place in Sylva, NC, to keep a woman safe from a man who is determined to kill her is a trailer.

I am always shocked at people who want to kill their partners. In my experience, it's always about sex on some level: who she's having sex with, who she's refusing to have sex with, who he thinks she might be having sex with, that sort of thing. Others may say it's about control, but I say it's about control over sex. Just my opinion and I am welcome to it on my own blog.

Many Things

I posted three times last Saturday and each time it got deleted. I then discovered a virus that some miscreant sent me somehow. Just goes to show you can block all you want, some people are still so bored and Useless they have to bug me. Well, sorry pal, I am no longer Bugged.

Les betes du bon Dieu

On Saturday I found a Lady Beetle on my Rose du Rescht on Saturday. The French call lady beetles les betes du bon Dieu, or creatures of a good God. I was very excited, as this predator will eat bad bugs. Yay.

Another Good God creature is the Carolina Chickadee. A pair of them found my birdhouse, built a nest on Saturday and Sunday, and the Mom is now sitting on the nest while the Dad guards the door. I am looking forward to seeing the babies.

Dick Cheney and Martha Stewart
There was some kind of weird planetary convergence here on Friday, which as you remember was Saint Patrick's Day. Martha and Biggus Dickus were here on the same day. Go figure. Anyway, Martha stated that she no longer enjoys walled gardens. Big Dick said he came to speak with the troops but everybody knows he came to get drunk at the Hibernian Society, where the St Pat's shenanigans are well documented. I came in my house and turned out all the lights. I don't know if he brought his gun, but I'm bettin' he knew how to find one. If he shoots his friends and makes them blame themselves, what on earth would he do to pore little unarmed me? I think I made a wise choice. The pets couldn't figure out why we went to bed so early.

Knitting
I knit two purses for that auction. I didn't like either one enough to donate them, so I kept them. They'll be my Louisiana mementoes. I hope I'm not the only one who gets a bright idea, acts on it, then wonders what I was thinking! I'll do better next year.

The Garden
Thank you Amie for the suggestions for the Mardi Gras garden. JJUs are great but they fade in the heat. I'll use them in the fall. They're so awesome they last all winter down here.

The Roses will be blooming soon. They'd be out now but it's unseasonably chilly (in the 60s) this week, so they're slow to go. It won't be long now though!

Rant

Okay we all know I am posting on the other blog since my Mother and Daddy need to read my post and I'm tired of fighting with them about W. He is so not worth my relatuionship with my family. But as a human that lives a mile from a port (although not one of the ones in line to be overun by terrorists) this particular issue is as near to my heart as it gets. How on earth can W make the big proclamations that only he can save us from bad guys, we are all going to be killed by turrists, the hand over management of those ports to members of a country that supports and produces terrorists? This is just crazy. He was quoted as saying "This was done by the book." What fucking book? Who wrote that book? This is pissing me off.

And now of course the Supreme Court will make abortion illegal. Go ahead. Just know this you zealots: abortion will never go away. Women will always get them. The rich girls will jet off to other countries and get them, poor girls will have botched abortions and die or have babies. So much for the big idea of producing generations of Neo-cons. Okay. Whew. Thanks.

Help me

Whenever I use that title I seem to get plenty of oddball reaction. So help me to understand this quote from W's Nashville speech:

“When we grew up, oceans protected us, it seemed like. We felt pretty safe and secure from a attack on American soil. We were concerned about a nuclear threat, but nevertheless, we felt secure because we were isolated from threats it seemed like. September the 11th changed my way of thinking. It changed my way of thinking on a lot of things, and one way it changed is that when we see a threat we got to deal with it.”

Um, Cuban Missle Crap? Dude where WERE you? Dude? Did you not have to Plan with your family of origin where you were gonna be when "it" hit? How did the ocean make your dumb completely stupid ass feel safe in Tixis!

Help me to understand. I KNOW some bushie will rise up in the middle of the night, having no life, to 'splain to to me. Take it away.
